Responsibilities

Fast-paced environment with our analytics team needs someone to lead as UI/UX Developer/Designer.  As part of an 8-person team, each member has unique skills they bring to the team including client project leaders, content experts, and software programmers.  You will work independently yet need to be collaborative and informed of each of the moving parts and projects influencing work.  This position is the expert in reviewing user feedback to create a better experience for the user. Will lead meetings with the software developers to discuss ways to improve new and existing software. Part of your responsibilities include analyzing and testing the performance of software programs on a variety of devices. This team is creative and visionary where creating data visualizations and graphics that effectively communicate to the end user is paramount. Must be able to meet quick turn-arounds and deadlines.  You’ll never be bored and will have the autonomy to explore different techniques and improve the program and environment.  This is NOT an entry-level position.

 

  • Stay at the forefront of data visualization by staying current on trends, top tools and emerging technologies and recommend, advocate for, and implement solutions that are a fit
  • Designing high-fidelity mockups using Adobe Illustrator or Adobe Photoshop
  • Creating design artifacts, workflow diagrams, low-fidelity mockups, wireframes, static and functional prototypes that supplement the high-fidelity mockups
  • Participate in usability testing
  • Participate in design review sessions, explain design concepts and decisions
  • Working closely with mission and users to identify trends from the user’s perspective.
  • Understand and follow user experience design processes, standards, and best practices
  • Communicate on a regular basis with creative director, development team
  • Designing, creating, and testing user-friendly software
  • Presenting UI designs for approval
  • Determining hardware requirements and consulting on user manuals
  • Updating existing software with innovative ideas to make it more user-friendly

Qualifications

Required Technical Skills:  HTML; JavaScript; CSS; and BootStrap

 

Optional Technical Skills:  GIS; MySQL; D3JS; and PHP

 

Required Non-technical skills:  excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet strict deadlines; advanced problem-solving skills; knowledge of graphic design and design programs such as the Adobe suite; conduct market research and analyzing results to improve programs; Data Visualization Design; and Dashboard Design
