Our Washington, D.C. location seeks an enthusiastic and creative Designer who will work across various market sectors including, but not limited to, Corporate Commercial, Housing, Hospitality, Healthcare, Academic, Science & Technology and similarly design related projects. You will thrive in a collaborative environment with technically sophisticated, design focused projects. As the Senior Interior Designer you will independently lead and manage multiple projects with oversight and design direction from the Director of Interiors. You will serve as a teacher and mentor for the next generation of designers while performing a range of project duties. Respected by clients and peers, you will work to understand and balance the needs of clients, coworkers, vendors, and the firm to provide sound guidance for all parties.

  • Participates successfully in interviews for project work, and supports business development and marketing efforts
  • Serves as the primary client contact and contributor during client meetings and presentations
  • Negotiates critical and controversial issues with outside parties
  • Develops and manages project schedule
  • Understands the General Conditions, Scope of Services, Team Structure and Fee stipulated in the contract for each project in which they are involved
  • Tracks and manages financial performance of project for success (e.g., work plan, schedule, fees)
  • Conceives, designs, and executes projects of moderate-high complexity from proposal through concept, construction, and closeout
  • Develops innovative design concepts which are practical, aesthetic, safe and conducive to intended purposes and function which is reflective of client goals and within project budget
  • Both participates in and oversees preparation of for all phases of development from programming through construction administration
  • Manages jurisdictional process (code research, permit submission, etc. and collaborates with other lead professionals to ensure design and documentation are in accordance with project expectations
  • Mentors and teaches junior staff


  • Bachelor’s or Master of Architecture or Interior Design
  • 12-20+ years of experience in an architecture or interior design firm
  • Commitment to continual learning and advancement of all relevant skills
  • Flexibility to focus on a single client with a variety of project types or multiple, concurrent projects in various stages of development
  • Ability to both produce and direct work independently (QA/QC oversight only)
  • Strong working knowledge of both architectural/interior and relevant MEP building codes
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Interacts well with other disciplines and clients in a manner that builds productive relationships
  • Business development skills
  • Experience with Revit, Microsoft Office, Bluebeam
