The Benefits Specialist serves as the firm’s expert on employee health and welfare benefit plans and programs including miscellaneous benefits performing all required support to employees in benefit related matters. Acts as liaison between employees and benefit providers/vendors to resolve any issues and ensure effective utilization of plans and maintenance of positive employee relations.

• Administer all benefit plans and programs including design and promotion of wellness initiatives; process all enrollments and terminations and required documents with providers and payroll to ensure accurate records and deductions. Ensure plans are administered in accordance with plan provisions and federal and state regulations.
• Conduct annual open enrollment and new hire benefits orientations educating on provisions to ensure informed individual decisions on election of benefits; resolve employee issues with services and/or claims, escalating appropriately to Director for assistance with resolution.
• Oversee the processing of all provider billings ensuring a review for accuracy has been completed; resolve discrepancies as needed prior to advancing for payment by due dates; generate reports as scheduled and/or requested.
• Serve as primary relationship manager for all benefit plan and providers/vendors; recommend improvements to existing programs/strategies and investigate new benefit programs provide analytical and technical support to ensure effective delivery of benefit programs.
• Coordinate with IT and Accounting as needed to provide departmental support in all areas of data management to ensure the integrity and accuracy of all records and reporting; ensure all system entries meet the requirement and timelines associated with payroll processing.
• Assist in the development of department goals, objectives and systems including evaluation of outcomes; recommend new approaches, policies and procedures in support of efficiencies and service excellence; lead special projects related to departmental plans.
• Process and/or approve new hire elections, benefit life event claims and other benefit changes through the benefits system.
• Assists in creating and maintaining benefit communications to help increase employee understanding of the benefit plans
• Assist HR team with human resources administrative tasks as needed including employee onboarding, filing and other tasks as assigned.

• Professional degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Psychology or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Typically with 5+ years of experience
• Experience in the use of HRIS systems, experience with Deltek Vision and B-swift a plus
• Experience in MS Office Suite, advanced Excel experience required
• Knowledge of employee benefits, COBRA and other federal/regulatory requirements
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with internal and external groups
• Ability to hold sensitive information with a high level of confidentiality and integrity
• Ability to work under strict guidelines, competing priorities and immediate requests
• Ability to communicate and present ideas in a clear, concise and professional manner both verbally and in writing
• Ability to proactively problem solve and apply innovative solutions
• Ability to work and collaborate in a team environment, and ability to work independently and prioritize work
