Overview

Page is seeking a qualified Building Performance Engineer / Energy Specialist  to join our Building Sciences team in our Houston, Texas office. We are seeking an energy specialist who is committed to developing high performing buildings and passionate about sustainable solutions. As an Engineer / Energy Specialist, you will help our teams make data driven design decisions and build advanced energy modeling to help us roll out larger firm adoption of IES. In addition, this role advises on low energy building strategies in early design, research into new technologies, and provides firmwide education.

Responsibilities

  • Performs whole-building energy simulation computer modeling throughout the design process. Utilizes IES VE for building optimization and analysis. Reviews building design plans, documentation, and contractor submittals for alignment with final energy models.
  • Manages all aspects of LEED / Austin Energy Green Building (AEGB) energy performance credit documentation for energy modeling compliance 
  • Applies in-depth understanding of advanced commercial HVAC systems to evaluate options, simulate performance, analyze results, develop recommendations, prepare financial analyses, and present to clients
  • Leverages data analytics to understand, visualize, and educate clients about building design and operations insights
  • Collaborates and builds rapport with interdisciplinary client teams and provides recommendations based on objective data and real-world insights
  • Maintains leading-edge knowledge of best sustainability practices by influential designers and engineers to provide recommendations for projects
  • Interprets and applies code and program requirements for Title 24, CALGreen, IECC, building codes, LEED, Zero Energy, ASHRAE standards, incentive programs, and other relevant building and energy standards

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in architectural engineering, mechanical engineering, or other related disciplines
  • 2-3 years of relevant professional experience
  • Proficient with IES VE, EnergyPlus/Open Studio or other energy modeling software
  • Knowledge of industry codes and standard (IECC 2015, ASHRAE 90.1, ASHRAE 62.1, ASHRAE 55)
  • Strong knowledge of LEED engineering documentation process and audits
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and heat transfer principles
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implement sustainability concepts
  • Proven effectiveness coordinating with teams outside of engineering disciplines
  • Detailed oriented, self-starter with proven experience in managing multiple projects
  • Strong verbal communication skill with demonstrated ability to teach and present to a variety of audiences
  • Clear and effective written communication
