Responsibilities

We are seeking a Healthcare Project Architect who can be located in our Houston or Austin office.

 

Qualified candidates must be able to interpret healthcare programming information, generate alternative healthcare planning configurations, arrange and plan clinical spaces with coordinated equipment requirements, and work within a larger architecture and consultant team to develop the plans and spatial design from concept through CDs. Familiarity with healthcare planning standards and code requirements for healthcare-related facilities is a must. This position provides a broad opportunity to engage in all aspects of healthcare design, including inpatient, outpatient, and specialty facilities.

 

The preferred candidate must have an ability to effectively communicate with a variety of technical, professional and managerial professionals, and they must be particularly suited for working in a constantly changing work environment. Qualifications

  • 5+ years healthcare planning and programming experience;
  • BArch or MArch, or equivalent degree;
  • Architecture license preferred, or actively in pursuit of licensure;
  • ACHA, AAHID, CHID and/or EDAC preferred;
  • Creativity, passion and interest in the design and planning of healthcare facilities;
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements for healthcare facilities design, and how these work with life safety, accessibility, FGI guidelines and other related requirements;
  • Understand fundamental departmental organization;
  • Knowledge of medical terminology;
  • Hand and CAD drafting skills; prepare 2D and 3D presentation/design drawings;
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Revit, Microsoft Office, and Bluebeam;
  • Knowledge of sustainability and LEED preferred;
  • Strong presentation, communication, listening, organizational, team building, and collaboration skills are essential;
  • Familiarity with current industry practices, trends, and innovation;
  • Familiarity with LEAN concepts encouraged (clinical LEAN practices);
  • Familiarity with issues surrounding healthcare benchmarking, strategic planning, master planning, and programming;
  • Ability to write clear and concise narrative reports;
  • Willing to take on challenges and grow as a professional;
  • Self-directed with clear and succinct communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects at one time.
