    Responsibilities

    The Instrument Engineer/E.I.T. shall be responsible for designing, specifying, reviewing and approving instrumentation and control solutions for leading semiconductor manufacturing, pharmaceutical, biotechnology and other high-tech manufacturing facilities.

     

    • Apply engineering principles and practices to diverse design and design/build projects:
    • Support project and discipline management team in the execution of projects:
    • Provide Instrument Engineering services to design and specify I&C solutions for complex Process and Mechanical systems required for high-tech manufacturing, semiconductor fabrication, chemical processing, pharmaceutical, water and waste-water processing facilities:
    • Preparing riser diagrams, instrument location and raceway routing plans, instrument data sheets, process flow diagrams (PFD), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID), loop wiring diagrams, industrial control panel schematics, instrument installation details, logic diagrams, sequences of operation, input/output lists, developing construction specifications and other documentation:
    • Evaluate and select instrumentation materials of construction to ensure chemical compatibility with process fluid:
    • Evaluate and assess requirements for instrument installation 2in hazardous areas;
    • Review shop drawings and submittals and responding to RFI’s;
    • Develop and maintain I&C design standards;
    • Actively participate in multi-disciplinary, international team of Electrical, I&C, Process, Mechanical, and Electrical Engineers, construction supervisors, and vendors;
    • Travel may be required.

     

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university:
    • Minimum 5 years of experience;
    • Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) or Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.);
    • Must be able to meet badging requirements for client sites, which includes passing a background check;
      Familiar with codes NFPA 70, NFPA 497, UL 508A, and UL 698A;
    • Experience developing sequence of operations, P&ID’s, process flow diagrams, and wiring diagrams in compliance with ISA standards and practices;
    • Experience selecting PLC and DCS based control system hardware;
    • Experience with Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) is a plus;
    • Previous experience developing MEP design packages a plus;
    • Familiarity with supervisory control and data acquisition systems for industrial process systems including:  process HPM delivery systems, ultra-pure water (UPW), industrial waste collection and treatment (IWT), bulk chemical storage and distribution (BCDS), facility monitoring and control, gas plants, power monitoring of electrical distribution systems, exhaust gas scrubbers and thermal oxidizers, and process reactors;
    • Experience designing and implementing industrial communication networks including Ethernet, Modbus, Profibus, Devicenet, wireless telemetry, and fiber networks;
    • Familiar with AutoCAD / MEP / P&ID / BIM software;
    • Previous mission critical facility, semiconductor, government, pharmaceutical, biotech or “high-tech” industrial manufacturing project experience desired but not required.
